I’ve been a little disgruntled with the allotment recently. Gone are the big bunches of lovely spring onions and piles of juicy sweet strawberries and just the last slightly dried out first early potatoes are sitting in the bottom of the fridge. It’s been weeks of waiting between the early crops and the main summer harvest. Something to learn for next year…

But now it all begins again. Yes, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, courgettes and glorious shinny aubergines. The things I spent my winters (like a saddo) dreaming of.

So last night I went to the allotment to pick food for my dinner. There are two kinds of harvest, the most common one for me is going and getting huge piles of stuff because it needs to be picked, this stuff sits around, or must be redistributed to willing friends and family, the second and infinitely more satisfying is to know…
