What’s new on the Plot: saving seed!

AWESOME UPDATE THANK YOU FOR SHARING HAVE A BLESSED DAY LIZ

Green Lizard's Blog

This year, in part because of the blogging incentive, I’ve tried to do some new things on the allotment.

We’ve been growing vegetables etc for around eight years. Every year there’s successes with different crops so we’ve always finished the allotment year feeling pleased.

New Stuff

One crop that was important to us was parsnip. It’s hard to get here and expensive. We’ve grown it well on a few years. This year following a successful, if knobby, crop I decided to try something new. Parsnip seed is notoriously fragile. It’s always described as such and seeds don’t last very long. It’s recommended that you buy new seeds each year. So I had an idea.

How about we save some seed from this crop? The parsnip sets seeds in its second year so we let some stay in the ground all winter. They flowered and set seeds a few weeks ago.

Liverpool… a City of Giants!

LOVELY POST THANK YOU FOR SHARING

Christine Lucas

25th to the 27th July was the return of Royal de Luxe’s giant marionettes to Liverpool.

Liverpool was celebrating the heroism of it Pals, 5,000 men who volunteered for the war effort! Almost half never returned and those who did were left with scars both physically and mentally.

David and I on the Friday took the bus into town at 8am on a bright sunny morning and stood for over three hours waiting and watching as Little Girl…

Garden Connect – Month 5

AWESOME UPDATE SOPHIE MINE POST WILL BE IN A FORM OFA VIDEO UPLOADING AT PRESENT HAVE BLESSING OF A DAY

The Forget-me-Not Cultivation Blog

As you know I’m part of a growing community called Garden Connect. The idea behind it being that if growers from all over the world grew the same types of vegetables, in the same way, at the same time of year it would be rather interesting to see how each person’s crops progressed and the harvest each country produced (or states and counties within each country). The layout of the garden has been designed by Matt (the creator of Garden Connect).

Month 5 Update

I have to say it’s not going as well as I’d hoped, but I’m learning an awful lot as I go along on this challenge!

My lack of judgement when it came to adding plants to the plot are now causing the area great problems.  I’m hoping some of my fellow garden connect’ers can give me some advice.

Square foot(ish) garden…
