Holland is well known for the bicycle. It is an integral part of the way the place functions.
The bicycle is included carefully in access and development whenever a new district is created or when access is redesigned.
Commonly the bicycle has it’s own network for getting around. Often this means there will be a road between two points next to a railway line with a cycle path running nearby but in a separate section. This way the bike has a more scenic journey unlike the car nearby.
I love this.
It means that the commuting concept is made really delightful. A lovely cycle through fields and green views away from traffic jams.
Cycle paths also run alongside allotments and through park instead of fighting for space with stinking lorries or busses.
