Hi Linda, I enjoy your blogs. Regarding seed storage. I use metal tins, biscuit and sweet tins when empty after Christmas. I have a tin for each group of seeds. I base the selection on the Biodynamic system where seeds are sown and planted according to phases of the moon. It depends on what part of the plant is to be harvested. So roots go in one tin, leaf plants in another, and seed of plants grown for their fruit, legumes, tomatoes, pumpkins etc. Seed for flowers in another tin. The I try to sow roots on a root day, and so on. I find seeds keep well in tins, away from heat and damp. The other option is to keep seeds in preserving jars, with either silica gell or rice. The Real Seed Catalogue, http://www.realseeds.co.uk, have useful information about seed saving and storing. Hope this helps. Betty
Many thanks for that Betty really useful as well as I have plastic bands round them then they all fall out and get mixed then I have to try and remember were they should be
glad you are enjoying the blogs have a lovely blessed weekend
Mine are all jumbled together, I must think of a better system!
That what mine were until this morning when I had ago at trying to put them in some sort of order it can be hard when some veg seeds are not mention under the current crop names we have for the rotation of them it confuses me greatly for example would sweet corn be legumes or root or under something else ?
